49. Holy ground

The bush that burns but does not burn is a symbol of the divine presence. In front of it is Moses, barefoot, in silence and awe, because the ground beneath him is holy. This is a moment of call, when the ordinary turns into the sacred, and a man into a prophet. The painting speaks of discovery, faith and the power of the word that comes from the fire.
